When I was growing up reading was something that I enjoyed but only if it had to do with sports, cars, photography, business, personal growth, and the outdoors. I read several great books along the way but not by choice, they were assigned to me as part of a class project. One of the other reasons I did not like reading was you had to haul the books everywhere you went. It made it super inconvenient, to say the least. Nonetheless, technology has changed all of that when they created the Kindle reading tablet and now the Kindle app for both Apple and Android.
So the initial stand-alone Amazon Kindle tablet was nice I didn’t see the need to get just a one-use piece of technology to lug around either. Once the smartphone changed where you can carry the Kindle with you on your phone, tablet, and even the desktop I began investigating the app even more. As I experimented with it I found I was using the 10-15 minutes prior to an appointment reading a passage or a chapter of the book and started to love reading again. The topics did not change it just expanded more rapidly. Not to mention that by going digital I didn’t have to buy an actual book I saved a few trees along the way. Currently, I have about thirty books in my Kindle at various stages of completion. Best part they are in my phone, accessible 24/7. Sweet!
Then I discovered Kindle Unlimited! Many of the titles of books I wanted to read were available to me to check out and read then return them. What a great service for only $10 a month. One of the newest features that Kindle Unlimited has is what they call FAST READS. This shorter version of the main book provides a great overview of the content and chapters of the book. I read one in 30-minutes during lunch at a conference this past Saturday.
Now I am trying to read 2-3 books a month if not more. Reading has become fun again and a great source of learning, wisdom, and insight related to life and the world around me. So download the app, signup for Kindle Unlimited, and start your own learning and growing adventure. Stay tuned as I am sure I will be reviewing great books I have read and want to share.
Please commit, like, and subscribe! See you tomorrow!
