The Main Difference Between the Moon And The Stars!

by | March 27, 2022

I know what you are thinking. Isn’t it obvious the difference between the two? I mean the true definition of a moon is the earth’s natural satellite that shines by the sun’s reflected light, revolves around the earth from west to east in about 29¹/₂ days with reference to the sun or about 27¹/₃ days with reference to the stars, and has a diameter of 2160 miles (3475 kilometers), a mean distance from the earth of about 238,900 miles (384,400 kilometers), and a mass about one eightieth that of the earth. Ok, that makes logical sense, right.

So what is a star? A star is any massive self-luminous celestial body of gas that shines by radiation derived from its internal energy sources. Of the tens of billions of trillions of stars in the observable universe, only a very small percentage are visible to the naked eye. Not a bad group of possibilities for life or something more.

So we have the definitions taken care so now they both bring into focus a lesson I learned from a mentor of mine Gene Armstrong many years ago when I was sharing my goals with him that clearly has a practical difference between the two. After I had shared my goals with Geen one day he said something that would make a huge difference, even today, in my life, “Mark always shoot for the stars and never aim for the moon!” I didn’t quite understand what he meant. but he explained.

He said, “Mark when you are making plans and goals always shoot for the stars because if you do and hit the Moon you are 238,000+ miles from Earth. If you aim for the Moon and hit the clouds you are only at 50,000 feet at the most.” Great words because by hitting the Moon with what you have attempted in your life you are accomplishing things that most people with never nor even attempt to do.

I am still shooting for the stars in everything I am trying to accomplish in my life. My hope is that you will shoot for the stars in everything you do to be amazed at what you will accomplish when you do!
